Allen, the first defensive minded head coach since John Madden, was McKenzie's pick as the Raiders embark on a new era.

There were rumors that the Raiders might be looking to switch to the 3-4 this season, and that may still be the case, but Allen's Broncos ran a 4-3, and the Raiders have built towards a 4-3 (though defensive collapses this season may suggest that they've improperly built towards a 4-3).

It's an interesting hire, and I had thought McKenzie would have gone for Winston Moss, but if Allen was impressive enough to push aside Moss, I'm intrigued to see what happens.
